Throughout the process, I have been editing the lighting to match the room with the reference images. I chose yellow and red coloured lights, to create a warm, fiery feeling in the room. Most of the light was provided by the candles, separate to the emissive flame asset, every flame had an additional point light, with a low intensity and a dull gold colour to light up the room accurately to the reference.

To get the surrounding warmth I added a number of room lights at the top of the room, some golden and some red of different intensities, to get the atmosphere I wanted.

Since this is a room that solely relies on these lights for it's light, if the candles are constantly flickering, the scene would be too bright at times and too dark at other times. This could perhaps be fixed if the light stayed the same, but just the flame moved. I may not have time to animate the flames in the end anyway, since it is one of my stretch goals.
